The newly elected Executive Committee of the BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists today (Wednesday) took over the charge of the union for the next three years.
The outgoing committee handed over the charges to new President Omar Faruque and Secretary General Dip Azad through a joint meeting held at Jatiya Press Club.
After assuming the office, the two top leaders vowed to work for upholding the dignity of the union and accelerate the movement for realizing rights of the journalists.
Outgoing president Mollah Jalal chaired the joint meeting where vice presidents Madhusudan Mondal, Afroza Akter Deu and Mosharraf Hossain, joint secretary generals Sheikh Mamunur Rashid and Amit Ray, office secretary Sebika Rani, executive members Ummul Wara Sweety, Dr Utpal Kumar Sarker, Nure Jannat Akter Sima and Sheikh Nazmul Haque Saikat were present.
Outgoing acting secretary general Abdul Majid and vice president Syed Ishtiaque Reza, former BFUJ president Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, Dhaka Union Journalists (DUJ) President Quddus Afrad, Narayanganj Union of Journalists (NUJ) president Abdus Salam and general secretary Amir Hossain Smith, Journalists’ Union of Kushtia (JUK) president Rashedul Islam Biplob and general secretary Mahmud Hasan and Mymensingh Union of Journalists (MUJ) president Ataul Karim Khokon and general secretary Mir Golam Mustafa were also present at the meeting.
